Sun Tanning FAQ: Frequently asked questions and answers on skincare

FAQ 1. What are the positive effects of tanning on my skin?

Really, the only recognised benefit as that agreed upon by scientists, is the one of 'cosmetic effect'. We all know that a tanned skin looks good, healthier, and the psychological effect of this makes you feel good. Also the actual activity of 'tanning' is most therapeutic and can give the body itself a boost. Consider the relaxation effect and the soothing silkiness of skin under the oil or cream, massaged to nourish and hydrate your skin with natural ingredients-and you feel good, so good.

FAQ 2. Why is the whole event described as "health giving".

Many people with skin problems, acne, psoriasis, eczema are known to get help and maintain relief from these symptoms, although not a cure. Further more there have been additional benefits reported for people with joint mobility problems and arthritic sufferers. Vitamin D is known to be generated whilst tanning either in an indoor or outdoor environment. A little and often is the rule.

FAQ 3. Why do I need to use a tanning cream/lotion for indoor tanning?

Whilst tanning, certain nutrients in the skin are used up. Tanning cosmetics - creams/lotions/oils, help prepare the skin for tanning. (These creams are obviously used before tanning - always read the label.) On the whole these tanning cosmetics speed up the tanning process, help cool down the skin whilst tanning, nutralize body odours which are created whilst tanning, moisturises the skin whilst giving a smoother tan, removes dead skin cells which are caused by peeling. Skin with the correct moisture balance tans better and more smoothly than a dry skin. The lotion applied directly before tanning has this effect. It also combats the drying effect of the UV rays, which result from the sun or sunbed, and gives the skin the brown effect which we call 'a tan'. The proven factor known in the tanning industry is that indoor tanning produces premature aging if there is continual over -exposure which so it is paramount to use tanning cosmetics.
