Safety
of skin care products.
How about we just have a look at the kinds of things which are put
into our bottles of skin-care lotions and creams. Can we trust them?
What exactly is in our bottle? Are we feeding our skin correctly?
There is now a product for every skin-type. With our endless quest
for cleanliness, healthiness, and all the other ‘nesses’ also well-being-ness;
being in a state of ‘confusion—mess’ can be the only word for it.
The demands upon skincare products increase. Also do the concerns
over our safety and the environments.
According to the Law, every Tanning lotion must be labeled with an
address within the European Union where information about the ingredients
may be obtained. The manufacturers have to make available for inspection
the specifications on the raw materials, the ingredients; the quantities
and purity; details of microbiological controls; methods of manufacture(approved);
product safety assessment procedures and the name and address of the
person responsible for assessing product safety; also the manufacturer
must record the data of undesirable effects on human health; the results
of the use of the products especially from consumer complaints and
proof of the effect claimed in the marketing business material or
advertising. `
The words used to describe skincare products are ‘any substance and
preparation designated to come into contact with different parts of
the human body surface.’ These are required by law not to damage the
health of any person. Quite a number of ingredients are forbidden.
The manufacturer is obliged to state the list of ingredients on the
packaging, under the term ‘ingredients’.
Tanning skincare products have their own special ingredients e.g.
sunburn prevention includes UV filters; some contain tanning accelerants.
All tanning skincare products contain ingredients that nourish the
skin, that prevent it from dehydration, and help towards combating
the ageing of skin, and also for helping maintain the tan for longer
periods. Skincare products to protect the skin from dehydration and
ageing can be found in any tanning skincare products.
