 Did You Know?
Generally speaking, most of us experience Tanning emotionally. That
is, we do not do what is best for us. We don't ask for the right 'dose'
on the sunbed. We only want to see a difference------ right now please.
So instead of being intelligent and using our reasoning abilities
to our advantage, doing that which we know is scientifically best
for us, we go off our emotions.
One leading manufacturer of sunbeds thinks that even if we could make
a sunbed which gives us a perfect tan in 3 minutes say, and without
any harm to the skin; it wouldn't be right. As our lives get busier
and busier, the need to just relax becomes more paramount and Tanning
provides the opportunity for this. We all know the 'feel good factor'
is of enormous benefit to our lives, keeping a balance with healthy
nutrition, excercising and sociability. When you Tan, you lie down
[mainly] and close your eyes, feeling the heat and light embrace you
and surround you, soothing, soft, and calming. We do forget that it's
so important to rest and refresh, build up our bodies and minds, for
the sake of our ongoing health. The younger you are , the easier it
is to ignore and just keep on going. But you'd be doing yourself a
favour to accept the wisdom of the 'more mature' people and the experts.
Also the body needs 'rest' periods as you know, between sunbed sessions,
to give the skin time to react and make use of the rays.
So many factors combine to suggest that rather than a perfect 3 minute
Tan [if that were a possibility] it would seem that slower Tanning
is better, much better. The faster the Tanning session, the lower
the quality of the Tanning result. By specifically using lamps on
sunbeds designed for longer sessions; you get a better Tan..
Perhaps in the near future we'll get more and more social environments
to attend ;including all the major leisure/health facilities; including
Tanning, where people can enjoy mixing and being together in a social
situation/ coffee etc., instead of just popping in and out of the
Salon. The social situation obviously enhances the relaxation experience
possibly increasing our health benefits all round.
Just to finish on a really interesting piece of knowledge, [ well
it is to me] Endorphins, which we all know to be involved in our bodies,
causing a 'feel good factor', e.g. exercising is known to produce
endorphins in the brain area; have now been found to be produced by
the skin in ordinary skin cells and the levels of this hormone are
seen to have risen significantly after a Tanning session. [I wondered
why I felt positively glowing and so 'feel good' after I'd been on
the sunbed especially in the Winter months.]
ENJOY YOURSELVES.
